How to Make Mineral-Rich Sea Moss Gel at Home

Sea moss gel is an easy, nourishing way to support skin, hair, and overall vitality. I love to prepare it as a ritual — slow, mindful, and infused with love. Here’s my step-by-step guide so you can make it at home.

Ingredients:

  • 2 oz dried sea moss (any color; I used colorful sea moss)

  • Juice of 1–2 key limes

  • 2–3 cups water for soaking

  • Herbal decoction or tea blend (optional, for infusion)

Instructions:

  1. Prepare your sea moss

    • Make sure it’s thin and dried out.

    • Rinse thoroughly under running water to clean.

  2. Soak

    • Place the sea moss in a bowl with fresh water and juice of 1–2 key limes.

    • Let it soak in the fridge for 24–48 hours.

  3. Rinse again

    • Drain and rinse thoroughly under running water.

  4. Blend into gel

    • Prepare a hot decoction or tea blend (herbs of your choice).

    • Pour the hot mixture over the sea moss.

    • Blend until smooth and gel-like.

  5. Store

    • Pour into a glass jar and poke a few holes to let it breathe.

    • Keep in the fridge — it lasts about 1 month.

Yields:

  • 2 oz dried sea moss makes roughly 32+ oz gel

How to use:

  • Take 1–2 tablespoons by mouth daily

  • Or add to smoothies, teas, or desserts

Tips:

  • Use colorful sea moss if you want a vibrant gel, but any variety works.

  • Infusing with bladderwrack or burdock root adds gentle nourishment.

  • Take your time while making it — the ritual itself is part of the nourishment.

💛 Making sea moss gel is more than just food — it’s a moment to connect with your body, slow down, and feed yourself with care.
